Details: Chevrolet produced these long wheelbase (133´), heavy duty (3/4 ton, 10,000 lb towing package) pick ups in response to consumer demand for trucks that could carry the biggest campers in the market in the late ´60s, early ´70s. The original owner of this Longhorn used it for camping only for many years, note the camper tie downs on the sides of the bed. It was purchased and the engine and transmission were overhauled about ten years ago at approximately 72,000 miles. The truck has a 350 cubic inch engine with a 4 bolt main, mated to a 350 Turbo Hydromatic transmission. She has drum brakes and Flowmaster dual exhaust. New parts include a new battery and new BF Goodrich TA Commercial (265/75, 16) tires all the way around. She has a fresh oil change and oil filter and a current inspection. Things to note:-The factory air quit blowing cold last spring and has not been addressed.-The auxiliary tank door on the driver´s side: the auxiliary tank is not in service.-These trucks were equipped with wooden beds, this one has been replaced several times. The current bed is solid, but shows weathering and wear and tear.-The drivers side mirror fell off recently and is lost.I can´t speak to the rarity of the Longhorn package, but I´d never seen one before I came across this truck. She runs great, and has made a nice work truck. She could be someone´s cool old street truck.The $3,200 price is negotiable. E-mail for photos or to arrange to come see the truck. Details: This car was restored in the early 1990s and has not been driven since 1998. Brakes and a state inspection will make this car road worthy. Needs body work. The car came from the factory with an in-line 250 cubic inch 6 cylinder engine. A 327/300 4 bolt main was built new in the late 90s. Bored out .40 over, with performance cam, and Edelbrock 4 barrel carburetor. 15´ rally wheels (oversize in the rear). New 3 speed automatic transmission was installed in the mid to late nineties.
