Details: GENERAL INFO:We have a 1974 3/4 Ton Chevrolet Van for sale. It has a 350 V8 engine, a tow package, is smog exempt and has only 83,000 original miles on it. We just bought this van about 8 weeks ago. Our mechanic went through it and replaced old parts with new ones there is a new radiator and he did the brakes. My husband however, is a courier for a living and expected to use his own vehicle to do such but has been having to use the company´s vehicle because the cost of gas to take this to San Francisco and back is too expensive. So he wants us to sell the van and get a more economical vehicle.So far we figure the van gets about 10 miles to the gallon. She is a beauty of a van though. We named her Big Bertha. She is fantastic for hauling furniture and doing flea markets which is what we were wanting her for. She was a 1 owner vehicle prior to us buying her. The previous owner only used her to haul construction materials. Given that, she did not come with the bench seats so the van only seats the driver and one passenger. She runs like a champ even at her coldest in the mornings she starts up immediately and we live up in the forest on some steep roads but she takes it like its nothing! I own a store in town and often have to pick up and deliver furniture and then we take items to the flea market twice a month, so she has really been serving her purpose.COSMETICS: The body is 99% straight, meaning that my husband while trying to paralel park her in front of the shop for the first time, some how got her hooked onto the metal bariers that protect the fire hydrant, don´t know how he did it, but in trying to get her unhooked he put a nice 12 inch long dent in her right rear side. It´s not horrific or anything, but to think she survived 38 years without any dents till she met my husband! LOL regardless it really doesn´t affect the cosmetic overall look. She is an avacado green with primer gray back doors. No rust. The inside is avacado green with the inside cargo walls having a brown vinyl and plaid material going all the way back. This too was undamaged until my husband loaded a few things in her. She had been sitting for almost 7 years prior to us buying her, so this brown vinyl is dry and brittle, so not his fault so much! There are just a couple of tears in it. The inside ceiling has one section missing. The driver and passenger seats are in pretty good condition, nothing warranting seat covers. She has the old seat belts, no belt across the shoulders. She has the old cassete tape radio deck in her. OTHER FACTS:We have the chiltons manual for her. Her heater warms up instantly! She is smog exempt. Her registration is only about $52.00 a year. She has been filed as non-op since 2003. My husband still has to go down to register her in our name. She could use an oil change and tune up that we have not yet gotten to. I should mention that even though we bought her about 8 weeks ago, our mechanic tore her apart to replace the radiator and brakes and then just left her like that for weeks. So we had to hire a different mechanic to finish the job. So we´ve only had her operational for about 3 weeks. The room she has is enormous! We went to the auction about 2 weeks ago and were able to load her up with 2 armoirs, a table with 6 chairs and two dressers with room to spare, couldn´t believe it! For the room alone we love her but my husbands boss wants him to be using his own vehicle for the courier calls and she´s too expensive on gas for that. He goes all over the bay area in a day from felton to cupertino to watsonville to san francisco, you name it. She would burn up in gas what he makes in a day, so we have to get like a little pickup or newer van with better gas mileage.
