My Grandfather passed away and left it to me and I have been using it as my daily driver for about three years. The original engine that was in it was the 6.2 liter GM diesiel engine. I replaced it with a military Humvee 6.5 liter diesel back in 2008. The engine had 5000 miles on it when it was installed and i have put about 50k on it myself. Started up just fine all winter, and runs like a champ. The only things that are wrong with it are cosmetic flaws such as paint chips in some areas and a few rust spots around the wheel wells. It kills me to have to let her go, but I am getting married soon and its time to get a more fuel efficient family car. Details: First off this truck is good for someone that is a mechanic or has a buddy that is a mechanic. This is not a soccer mom burb. This has been my daily driver and starts every time. The truck has 280,000 miles. Now for the deatails: The truck has a 350 engine with the 4L80E auto trans. It runs good and the trans shifts flawlessly. It has dual air that has just had a new compressor, dryer, orfice tube and rear expansion valve installed. All components in the system have been flushed and new orings through out. The rear Evap need to be replaced as one of the fittings gauled when removed and the threads can´t be saved. I have freon for it and the rear is still open. Would take little money and time to get the A/C ice cold. I have replaced the front suspension bushings, ball joints, shocks, sway bar end links and outer tie rods. It could use the rest of the steering replaced but is not urgent. The rear leaf bushings, and shocks need replaced. I started to gather parts to redo the upper engine to get better horse power and milage. I have a set of good vortec heads, arp head bolts, shorty headers with egr and O2. 454 throttle body and the correct info to get you on your way to get another 150hp and 3-5 more mpg out of it. The rear main seal on the engine is leaking and the trans front pump seal is leaking. It has a semi-floating rear axle. This truck was made for hunting/camping. It was a county surveyers truck back in the day. It has vinyl floors, and 2nd and 3rd row seats. The front seat is cloth and came from a pickup so it is a 40/60 split. It will seat 9. It has crank windows and manual locks. Very reliable. Barn door rear. and towing setup. I have a full set of Factory service and wiring manuals. It has new tires. 4x4 works great. This would be a great 3rd vehicle for those special needs. A little work here and there and she will be perfect.I´m moving out of town and bought a newer truck. I don´t have time for her before I go.
